IRS Mileage Rate Increase
August 12th, 2026The IRS increased the business mileage benchmark for a personal vehicle by 3.5 cents per mile, from 72.5 cents per mile to 76 cents per mile beginning July 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026.
The rate is an optional standard rate used to calculate the cost of operating a vehicle for business purposes. It is intended to account for costs associated with operating a vehicle, rather than requiring taxpayers to calculate actual vehicle expenses.
