FHWA Form 536 Due June 15th

May 28th, 2026

Each municipality in Pennsylvania is required to complete the FHWA Form 536 each year. The form reports all road and bridge expenditures from the previous year along with all funding sources used, including Liquid Fuels Tax funds, general funds, grants, private contributions, and other revenues. PennDOT combines the local submissions into a single statewide report for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

FHWA uses this information to analyze roadway and bridge maintenance costs, identify funding sources, and estimate future transportation financing needs. The annual submission deadline has changed from October 15 to June 15, and FHWA has emphasized that submission of the form is mandatory. PennDOT must now identify municipalities that fail to submit the form, and FHWA may contact those municipalities directly or impose penalties.

PennDOT offers assistance through virtual or in-person training sessions and support from PennDOT Financial Consultants. The FHWA 536 reporting system is available at PennDOT FHWA 536 Reporting Website. Questions or training requests may be directed to a municipality’s Financial Consultant or by emailing RA-PDFHWAMUNIFORM@pa.gov.
